Apparently this is my second blog of the year. Good thing it’s a great one. Nicole and Brendan are getting married next year and I’m so excited to work with them after this adorable golden hour engagement session at Cattle Point last weekend.
They showed up with similar thoughts to many of my clients about being nervous and awkward. That’s totally normal for people who aren’t used to being photographed. It’s kind of a weird thing to pose for a camera, especially in front of someone you just met for the first time. I’m not super posey with my couples sessions and try to get people to laugh and interact with each other as much as possible. I kind of like nervous laughter, because it looks like smiling. And eventually it turns into genuine smiles. If I have to act like an awkward goof, I’ll do it to get those smiles. It’s not really an act anyway.
Nicole and Brendan are high school sweethearts and I could tell they’ve been together for a while by how comfortable they are together, even in an awkward situation. They know how to make each other laugh and are great at cozying up together. I’m looking forward to a fun wedding with lots of laughter.
