On August 15th, Lara and Steve got married at Abigail’s Hotel with only one guest, Lara’s mother. Lara and Steve live in Victoria, but we’re still calling it an elopement because, hey, it’s romantic and it fits. It was only two hours of shooting, but I think this is my favourite wedding to date. Lara and Steve are truly adorable and so in love. I love it when people make their wedding all about their love for one another, not about the right decor or the perfect cake or whatever (though those things can be fun too – and Lara certainly took time to find the perfect dress at Queen). Also, the cake just happened to be amazing (Chocolate Symphony from Cakes Etc.) and the purple flowers from Petals Plus and bright blue shoes added a little kick to her white dress. But the most memorable thing by far was the pure happiness in the air.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone as excited as Lara was before the wedding, twirling around in her hotel room and doing some yoga to calm down. Once the ceremony started, the emotion really began to flow.
Apologies for the super long post. I just love the photos so much.
Afterward, we headed out to the oceanfront to take some photos. I didn’t even have to pose these two, they just ran around on the rocks and played in the sun. I gave them a bit of direction near the end, to feel like I was doing my job (and to get a good shot of the rings on their fingers). They also showed off some of their yoga moves before heading out on their yoga retreat honeymoon.
