I adored this Deep Cove Chalet wedding on a beautiful summer day. Angela and Mike live in Los Angeles, but she’s originally from Victoria. When she told me they’re triathletes who do Akita rescue, I knew I’d like them (and I was right). And of course, we were all happy to see the venue’s resident dog.
I’d never photographed a wedding at the chalet before, but I’d had dinner there once and knew it would be beautiful and the food delicious. It did not disappoint. The garden was fully in bloom and the restaurant was decorated with lots of florals.
They had guests from around the world, many of whom the couple has known for a very long time. The Chalet is a favourite place for Angela’s mother who lives in Greater Victoria, which made the setting feel even more intimate. Other lovely personal touches included Angela’s dress that was originally her mother’s and wedding band engraving by Mike’s sister Laura. The reception was a cozy dinner interspersed with funny and touching speeches. Mike’s brother even got in a toast via Facetime.
