Laura and Daniel got married on a Tuesday at the end of June. The day was brutally hot, but they managed to look glamorous anyway (check out her open back dress). The ceremony and reception took place at Kildara Farms, which is a gorgeous spot for the wedding and portraits. The morning was fun with lots of candids of Laura and her wedding party.
I loved the sweet and funny vows Laura and Daniel wrote for each other. Part of Laura’s vows were “I promise to be less grumpy when I go to bed and when I wake up”. I’m not entirely sure if this is serious, because if you’ve met Laura, you’ll think she’s the happiest person you’ve ever met. I overheard a guest telling her that he needs a photo of her laughing, because it instantly cheers him up. She’s definitely one of the smiliest brides I’ve seen.
Laura and Daniel are film geeks and their wedding had a bit of a movie theme, with each table being named after a movie and decorated with film strips. In order to get them to kiss, the guests had to stump them on movie trivia. If the guests did stump them, they got to choose a DVD from the DVD table, which was made up of duplicate DVDs that the couple had when they first moved in together. The story was that they decided to keep the duplicates, in case they ever moved out on their own again. I thought giving them away at the wedding was a sweet symbolic act of commitment.
Somehow between the engagement and the wedding, I forgot that they were swing dancers, so their awesome dance moves took me by surprise. The first dance was a simple slow song, but when Daniel came back inside wearing suspenders, I knew it was on. Their friends, including lots of little kids, also had a ton of energy on the dance floor, which resulted in some of my fave dancing photos of the year.
They did a unity ceremony with rum and Coke. It was pretty cute.
