Joan and Marcel got married in early August. It was a really fun day and everything looked beautiful because of Joan’s impeccable taste. We started out at the Victoria Regent Hotel in a giant suite with great harbour views. The limo broke down on the way to pick up the bride, but she kept her cool and we got to the church just a bit late. I love Joan’s style and her two amazing dresses. Marcel looked pretty good too. Definitely a good looking couple.
The ceremony was at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in downtown Victoria and the reception was at Prestige Oceanfront Resort in Sooke. They made sure everyone was entertained at the reception with trivia, slideshows, and messages from friends who couldn’t attend.
One of the best things about the reception was a game they played with the “bachelors” and “bachelorettes”, which was something I’d never seen before. The girls were all blindfolded and the guys had to limbo until one hit the bar. The losing guy had a bunch of paper hearts stuck all over him and the blindfolded women were led to him to try to grab a heart. It was really interesting to photograph, though some people tried to grab hearts off of me and I had to turn them around. Finally, the groom’s sister ended up as the last girl without a heart and her boyfriend was the limbo loser. He had to put the garter on her and they danced together. I suspect this game may have been rigged, but it was totally adorable.
After the game, parent dances, and Marcel’s toast, the bride and groom danced together. Halfway through, the song changed to Flo Rida “Low” and Joan and Marcel busted out the sunglasses and did an awesome coordinated dance. After that, the party was really on. There was some really amazing dancing, including some line dancing (and Gangnam Style, of course). Check out the link to the video at the bottom of this post to see them in action.
